Udaipur is a beautiful city located in Indian state of Rajasthan. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities and tourist destinations in Rajasthan and India as well. Famed as the City of Lakes, the Romantic City, the White City, the City of Palaces, the Kashmir of Rajasthan, and the Venice of the East, Udaipur city is visited by a number of tourists from all over the world. It was the historical capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. This beautiful city was founded in the year 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh of the Sisodia clan of Rajput when he shifted his capital from the historical city of Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) to Udaipur. It continued to be the capital city of Mewar till 1818 when it became a princely state of British. Thereafter the province of Mewar became a part of Rajasthan when India got independence in the year 1947.

Spread across an approx. area of 37 square kilometers, the historical and beautiful city of Udaipur is the sixth largest city in Rajasthan. It has been emerged as a popular tourist destination because of its grand history, rich culture & tradition, picturesque locations, beautiful lakes, and Rajput era elegant palaces. This beautiful city is lovingly known as the City of Lakes or the Lake City in India because of its sophisticated lake system. There are five major lakes in the city which are key attractions of the tourists coming from the different parts of the world. Tourists can enjoy several water activities including boat rides on the lakes. Five major lakes in the city are Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Swaroop Sagar Lake (Kumharia Talab), Udaisagar Lake, and Doodh Talai Lake.
